About Me: Susan Mackenzie Andersen

Greetings,

I am Mackenzie Andersen., the custodian of the Andersen Design assets.
The assets are hundreds of molds of original, market proven slip cast designs, a base of collectors, and brand name recognition.

Andersen Design evolved as a philosophical response to the factory production that had taken over America in the mid twentieth century. My Dad Weston, a co-founder of Andersen Design was raised on a farm and came of age at a time when family farms were being taken over by corporate farming.

My Dad maintained that everyone has talent so my parents Weston and Brenda Andersen set out to reinvent production as an art form that utilised the individual creativity resident in humankind. The ceramic production in a home was throw back to the family farm and the pre-Industrial Revolution Cottage Industry. The housing concept that I am promoting and have named Business in Residence Zoning is also a throwback to the days before the Industrial Revolution while at thesame time adresses the contemporary need for housing for remote workers and other self-employed residents.

Within the context and the advancing dominance of the state-run economy Andersen Design was an outsider industry . When I looked for refinancing and found that we didn’t fit with the program, I was inspired to read the state laws that created the program.

So I became an independent reseacher of my state economic development policy. I have written hundreds of posts incorporating my research and expressing my opinions. This provides a background for developing ideas about legislation. One thing I have learned from my research is that it is often private special interests that write the laws. It is not my impression that these private sector advisors or commissioners did so in complunace with Section 18.  Direct initiative of legislation. Of The Maine Constitution, but that they had sepcial access to the Maine Legislature.

IOrdinary citizens can submit legislation by the rules in the Maine Constitution which includes that “For any measure thus proposed by electors, the number of signatures shall not be less than 10% of the total vote for Governor cast in the last gubernatorial election preceding the filing of such petition.”

1.  Petition procedure.  The electors may propose to the Legislature for its consideration any bill, resolve or resolution, including bills to amend or repeal emergency legislation but not an amendment of the State Constitution,
